Kuwait- OIC condemns attack on military base in Afghanistan

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) JEDDAH, April 23 (KUNA) -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned on Sunday a recent attack on a military base north of Afghanistan, which resulted in killing and injuring hundreds of people.

OIC Secretary General Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen described the attack, in a press release, as a cowardly and barbaric act, stating: "The war that the Afghani government is waging against terror would not relent." Al-Othaimeen hailed the ongoing efforts by the Afghani government in uniting the people, despite the horrifying and unfortunate incidents that were committed in order to destabilize the country and create chaos.

He expressed his condolences to the Afghani government and people, as well as the families of the victims, urging the government not to retreat in building and developing the country.

The OIC Secretary General reaffirmed the organization's position that vigorously denounces all kinds of terrorism and extremism. (end) nh.mys
