Kuwait's Summer Cultural Festival kicks off


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Aug 8 (KUNA) -- The National Council for Culture, Art and Letters (NCCAL) launched Monday the Summer Cultural Festival which would include a host of activities during the remaining summer vacation.

The festival, launched with a performance by an Italian band on Abdulhussain Abdulredha Theater in Salmiya, asserts His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's call for allowing the youth meet their aspirations, NCCAL Acting Secretary General Mohammad Al-Asousi said in an opening speech.

He said the festival's activities aimed at boosting the cultural, literature, technical and scientific skills of the youths.

The youths, said Al-Asousi, were the future of the country and would ultimately contribute to the development of the nation.

Kuwait, like the advanced nations, is providing all types of support for the youths to enable them contribute to development, he added.

The political leadership of Kuwait, he said, was keen on utilizing proper investment in youths to promote national identity and national unity, thus confront intellectual and cultural challenges. (end) shd.bs
