Jordan- Kerry, Abbas agree to continue peace efforts: US State Department


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Washington, July 31 (Petra) -- US Secretary of State, John Kerry and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas agreed to continue peace efforts, A US state Department statement said late Saturday.

During their meeting in Paris, the two officials reiterated the importance of continuing to work with key partners to advance the prospects for peace, while opposing all efforts that would undermine that goal, the statement added.

"Kerry and President Abbas discussed regional challenges and constructive ideas for the way forward to support our shared goal of a two state solution," it said. Secretary Kerry stressed his country's commitment to this issue, and they agreed on the importance of continuing to work with key partners to advance the prospects for peace while opposing all efforts that would undermine that goal, the statement added.
