Turkish fighter jets hit 27 PKK targets

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISTANBUL, July 2 (KUNA) -- Turkish fighter jets destroyed 27 PKK terrorist targets in northern Iraq, the Turkish Armed Forces announced on Saturday.

In a statement, the Turkish Armed Forces said warplanes targeted the Gara and Zap regions on Friday night, destroying shelters and other facilities.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, nearly 600 security personnel have been killed and more than 7,700 PKK terrorists neutralized. (end) ta.nfm
