Sharjah Police handle 4,636 complaints in Ramadan

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Sharjah Police have responded to and dealt with 4,636 complaints received in the first two weeks of Ramadan. These calls were made to the new number 901, used for non-emergency matters.

The number was launched to reduce the load on emergency number 999. A police official said that the volume of non-emergency calls to 999 has reduced, and the public has begun to interact with police directly on non-emergency requests and queries.

Since the beginning of Ramadan, police have resolved 6,463 issues informed by callers at 901; all were referred to the concerned departments which addressed them immediately.

Police response to emergency calls on 999 is also quicker, as the pressure of calls is now significantly lesser.

Officials urge the public to use only 901 for non-emergency issues, and leave the 999 line open for emergency calls.
