Malaysia's Mufti lauds Kuwait's humanitarian role


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, June 26 (KUNA) -- Visiting Malaysian Mufti Dr. Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri has praised Kuwait''s humanitarian initiatives which extended aid to afflicted people in many world countries.

In exclusive statements to KUNA on Sunday during his first visit to Kuwait, Dr. Al-Bakri expressed pride over Kuwait, saying that the GCC country was a major source of humanitarian and charity work around the globe.

The Mufti also lauded the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a "Humanitarian Leader" and Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center." Referring to the choice of Kuwait as "Capital of Islamic Culture 2016", Dr. Al-Bakri said that it was a well-deserved choice and stressed the country''s significant role to serve Islam and Muslims, and disseminate Islamic culture.

In addition, Kuwait pays great attention to Islamic and cultural sciences and humanities, he said.

Dr. Al-Bakri voiced admiration of the religious atmosphere in Kuwait during the Holy Month of Ramadan. (end) shd.msa
