Qatar- Al Kawari arrives in Brussels to unveil his Unesco poll programme


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Brussels: H E Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, Qatar’s candidate for the post of the Director-General of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) and Cultural Adviser at the Emiri Diwan, arrived in the Belgian capital Brussels yesterday.

He is scheduled to deliver his speech during a meeting organised in coordination with the Qatari-European Friendship Association at the European Parliament and the Qatari Mission to the European Union this evening. Top Belgian personalities, European Commissioners, Nato officials, a large number of European parliamentarians, ambassadors of Arab and foreign missions accredited to Brussels and permanent representatives to the European Union will attend the event.

The speech will be preceded by extensive meetings with education and culture commissioners to introduce Dr Al Kawari’s election programme. Dr Al Kawari is also expected, along with Yvan Mayeur, Mayor of Brussels, to lay a wreath at the memorial of the victims of terrorist attacks at the Maelbeek metro station today.
