India reassures obligation to support Nepal's energy needs


(MENAFN) Both India and Nepal has recently revealed mutual interest in expanding business cooperation, especially in the power sector, and India keeps reaffirming its commitment.

In accordance, the interest was embodied by Nepal's eagerness to the development of more power transmission lines from its neighbor, amid recent joint negotiations.

In particular, only about 40pct of Nepal's population has access to electricity and there's a great disparity between urban and rural areas, thus the country needs electricity very badly.

Moreover, Power cuts of up to 22 hours a day take place in peak demand periods of winter and the peak electricity demand is almost the double the capability or dependable capacity.
