Mexico City, Sha'ban 09, 1437, May 16, 2016, SPA -- Security forces have seized at least 8 tons of
cocaine in north-western Colombia, the Colombian military said
Sunday, according to dpa.
President Juan Manuel Santos said on Twitter it was the largest drug discovery in the history of the South American country.
The military posted photos on Twitter showing individual packages lined up in a grid on the ground.
The drug was discovered in Antioquia Department, the newspaper El Tiempo said, citing authorities.
The cocaine is believed to belong to the crime syndicate Los Urabenos, which is considered most powerful criminal organization in Colombia and which recruits mainly from former combatants of right-wing paramilitaries.
