International conference of Internal Medicine kicks of


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman May 4 (Petra) -- Under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Talal the 13th International Conference of Internal Medicine started late Tuesday .

Organized by the Jordanian Society of Internal Medicine (JSM) and in cooperation with the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (RCPE) the three-day conference will discuss around 50 medical research papers tackling the latest developments in internal medicine.

In her opening speech HRH highlighted the importance of the health sector saying it was one of the main UN sustainable development goals that stresses on ensuring healthy lives and promoting the well-being for all at all ages .

Princess Basma voiced the significance of this international meeting that brings together doctors and experts to foster active exchange of experiences them and to achieve the development goals .

HRH said that health care in Jordan is considered one of the most advanced sectors in the Middle East which came as a result of plans development and investment projects carried out in the country.

RCPE President Professor Derek Bell stressed on the importance of cooperation between the college and the JSM and its impact on the development of services provided by for patients commending at the same time the advanced level Jordanian doctors have reached.

On the sideline of the meeting HRH opened the Medical Exhibition where around 25 local and international exhibitors and drug company show their latest pharmaceutical products as well as medical devices and supplies.

The RCPE is an independent standard-setting body and professional membership organization. It's aim is to improve and maintain the quality of patient care.

The college help qualified doctors to pursue their careers in specialist (internal) medicine through medical examinations education and training. It also provides resources and information to support and facilitate professional development for physicians throughout their careers.

The college aims at developing standards of medical care and training and to influence health policy. It has a UK and international presence with over 12000 fellows and members in 91 countries covering 56 medical specialties and interests.
