UAE- Two in the dock over drug trafficking

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Two Arab men stood trial at the Sharjah Court of First Instance charged with drug trafficking.

The first suspect identified as A.U. admitted during a court hearing that he asked the second suspect M.A. to get him drugs. A police sergeant testified that he received a tip-off that the first suspect was dealing with drugs and a police source posed as a buyer and met him at a gas station near Tasjeel Village between Ajman and Sharjah.

When police searched the suspect they found 900 tramadol pills. At first he denied that the drugs belonged to him but then confessed. The suspect also allegedly pushed the officer and broke the glass of a car belonging to CID officials.

Another police sergeant testified that officers found pills inside dress of the suspect and when they searched his car the first suspect said the drugs belonged to the second suspect. The first suspect denied the charges and said that he had a medical prescription for the drugs that was already submitted to the prosecutors.

The case has been adjourned to April 24.
