Egypt changes imported wheat moisture limit to 13 percent

ABU DHABI: Egypt's state grain buyerthe General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) said onThursday it had changed the specifications for moisture content

of imported wheat to be a maximum of 13 percent instead of 13.5percent.

"The change is valid as of today's tender" Mamdouh AbdelFattah Vice Chairman of GASC told Reuters.

Egypt had said last year it would allow an elevated moisturelevel in wheat purchases from abroad of 13.5 percent until theend of May.

"Since the shipment date for today's tender is May 10-20 sowe had to revert to 13 percent as if a possible delay happensthe exemption period would be over" Abdel Fattah said.

On Wednesday Egypt set a wheat tender with a deadline of1000 GMT on Thursday.
