Oregon collects USD3.4m from Marijuana

(MENAFN) The state of Oregon just acquired its first incomes from the marijuana sales tax, and generated a total of USD3.48 million.

Accordingly, dispensaries have to forward the 25pct sales tax on marijuana to the state's Department of Revenue each month.

Additionally, proceeds from the sale of marijuana somewhat have motivated the state's legalization of recreational pot use.

Once covering the state's collection costs, 40pct of the income goes to education; 20pct goes to mental health and drug services.
