The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” — Former US President Eleanor Roosevelt.

In life everyone has a dream he is looking forward to realize one daywhether it is related to wealth sports or education. One of the dreams related to wealth may be to have your own successful business and to have an office in one of Manhattan’s skyscrapers with your company’s advertisement placed on one of Times Square’s giant billboards.

Speaking about Manhattan and Times Square leads us to reflect upon one of its famous landmarks The Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom Law Firm Headquarters. In 2010 the SASM& F law firm was the second highest-grossing law firm in the world with over 20 branches worldwide. But what most of you don’t know is that this firm was once a low-profile law firm managed by a group of Jewish lawyers- a minority suffering from racial discrimination. Despite this they held high ambitions and determined attitudes which led them to prosperity.

The Question here is how they managed to be successful and what does that have to do with ISIS?

To find out the answer let us have a look at the story of one of the founders of this law firm Joe Flom. He was an ambitious Jewish lawyer who was the son of a poor Jewish migrant couple from Eastern Europe living in one of Brooklyn’s poorest neighbourhoods. Yet this didn’t prevent him from pursuing his studies in the prestigious Harvard University and graduating with high grades in the process.

However when he started his quest for a job in the law firms in New York all of them rejected him as was the case with other Jewish lawyers just because of their religious affiliation. He ended up joining a low-profile law firm established by Jewish lawyers called: “Skadden and Arps”!

As a Jewish law firm they weren’t taking big-money cases like those concerning tax and general corporate disputes because those were taken by New York’s high-profile law firms which rejected Joe and other Jews. All they could get in the late 1950s and 1960s were hostile corporate takeover cases which were viewed by high-profile law firms as low-profile and uncivilised and they weren’t generating lot of money so they tended to leave them to the Jews!

Flom and his fellow Jewish lawyers maintained their perseverance and focused their efforts on the work they had in their hands and in the early 1970s a breakthrough happened and their hard work finally paid off! What happened in this period was a change in regulations and the internationalization of the market which prompted the corporate takeover cases to become the highest-paid in the law industry.

The Stocks of the Jewish law firms rose rapidly as a result and they became the most prominent law firms in the country after decades of living in the shadows of the traditional and biased law firms.

What brought Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom law firm and other Jewish law firms to success and prosperity was their exploitation and utilization of the void left by traditional high-profile law firms The same can be said about ISIS and fellow extremist groups they exploited and utilized the void left by the mainstream moderate Muslim scholars!

Topics like Jihad Khilafa Implementing Shariah laws and Islamic perspective of state and how it is supposed to be formed and function have not been thoroughly explained or described in detail by moderate mainstream Muslim Scholars to the general public and the younger generation in particular leaving a void in their knowledge.

The “void” left by mainstream moderate Muslim Scholars through not adequately conveying these topics was and is still being exploited and utilized by ISIS and fellow extremist groups to influence some Muslim youngsters with their nonsensical uncivilised irrational and unauthorised understanding of Islamic Jurisprudence “Shariah”. So the first and main step to fight ISIS and protect Muslim youngsters from being brainwashed and hoodwinked by them is to explain these controversial topics in detail and to teach them the authorized majority Islamic view of them which is rational peaceful and justice-seeking.

Even if ISIS and other extremist groups are defeated and withdraw in the meantimedue to militant raids launched on them by the International alliance such extremist ideologies will not cease to exist amongst young Muslims unless the aforementioned void is filled by Muslim scholars by making widely known the truemainstream Islamic understanding of these topics.
