Dinosaur Fossils Found in Eastern Morocco


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Dinosaur fossils have been found in the sandstone of the Upper Cretaceous of Tgri Chott in the north-eastern province of Figuig a team of the Mohammed I University announced Monday.

“The discovery concerns giant bodies that consist of bones and the footprints of herbivore and carnivore dinosaurs” the laboratory of Mineral deposits Hydrology and Environment at the Mohammed I University pointed out Monday in a statement adding that the dinosaurs' footprints were found on tracks that spread over dozens of meters.

According to this team this discovery was made thanks to the field research and the collaboration of civil society.

They underlined that geologists have launched awareness-raising campaigns in the region to urge locals to preserve these treasures which might constitute an essential lever for the development of the whole region.
