Turkey- Mexican crime reporter abducted in country's central part


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) A Mexican crime reporter has been kidnapped from her home in the central state of Veracruz the general prosecutor's office said in a statement.

"The Attorney General (FGE) is investigating the disappearance of Anabel Flores Salazar Monday who serves as a reporter on police beat in a local newspaper" the statement read on Monday.

Special Prosecutor on Crimes against Freedom of Expression Jose Rene Alvarez also arrived in the region to personally attend the investigations and operations.

The prosecutor called on the the Mexican federal government to put an end to this cycle of "endless violence by bringing the perpetrators of this crime to justice" recalling that Veracruz was the most dangerous place to be a journalist in Mexico.

Salazar who lived in the city of Orizaba covered crime and the police beat for the newspaper El Sol de Orizaba.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists more than a half of journalists killed in Mexico since 2011 were killed in Veracruz.
