Kuwait- Al Azhar warns against racist rhetoric in US

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO Dec 9 (KUNA) -- The highest Muslim religious authority Al-Azhar on Wednesday warned against mounting provocative and racist calls against Muslims in the United States of America.Al-Azhar Al-Sherif said in a statement that such calls provoke sentiments of 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide "and at the same time they contradict norms of heavenly religions international and humanitarian charters that call for peaceful co-existence and respect of others' beliefs." The authority called for abstention from acts or rhetoric that "may foment discords and hatred" praising some moderate American figures who condemned the fiery-language calls. (end) asm.rk
