Egypt supports day of solidarity with Palestinians

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Egypt has reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian right to statehood and for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in his diplomatic fight to achieve his people's hopes.

The message was delivered in a speech by Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, read out by Ambassador Osama Al-Magdoob, at an event in solidarity with Palestine on Sunday.

The day of solidarity was organized by the Palestinian embassy in Cairo in collaboration with the Arab League, and provided an opportunity for Arab nations to assert their support for Palestine.

Shoukry's speech called on Israel to stop its unjustified violence towards Palestinians, stressing that security will only be achieved by halting the occupation, respecting human rights, and starting a peace process that includes the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Palestinians must be united in their struggle against the occupation and should not be divided in their ideas and goals, Shoukry said.

He also criticized Israel's violence in the Occupied Territories, as well as its violation of agreements regarding Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Palestinian Ambassador in Cairo Gamal Al-Shobaky said his people would not give up until the end of the Israeli occupation and the establishment of a Palestinian state, including the resolution of issues surrounding refugees based on UN Resolution 194.

Violations against Palestinians by the Israeli authorities continue this year, as always, the ambassador said.

"Despite all of this, we still call for the language of force, oppression, and blood to be replaced with the language of human rights and international legitimacy," Al-Shobaky said.
