Six dead 24 injured in Baghdad explosions

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Six people were killed and 24 others were injured Monday in several explosions that rocked the Iraqi capital a police source told Anadolu Agency.

The source said that two pro-government fighters were killed and three others were injured when “an improvised bomb went off while a vehicle carrying pro-government [militia] forces was passing in the Arab Jabour area in southern Baghdad.”

Three other improvised bombs went off targeting public places in al-Ameriya al-Sebaa and Sadr city across Baghdad leaving four people dead and 21 others injured the same source added.

In recent years bombings and shooting attacks – which often target civilians – have become a common occurrence in war-torn Iraq especially Baghdad.

Iraq has suffered a devastating security vacuum since June 2014 when Daesh overran the northern city of Mosul the country’s second largest city.
