JEDDAH 8th November 2015 (WAM) -- The General Presidency of Meteorology and Environmental Protection in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has confirmed that Hurricane Meg will have no direct impact on the coasts or the airspace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia except for the resulting flow of moisture which may affect the heights of Jazan region.

Saudi Press Agency SPA quoted the official spokesman of the Meteorology Hussein Al-Qahtani explaining that Hurricane Meg is expected to affect the Yemen island of Socotra which is close to the centre of the hurricane.

He said that Socotra island may be affected by active winds and heavy rain after which the hurricane will downgrade to a tropical storm heading west toward the Gulf of Aden and ending on the coast of northern Somalia.
