Qatar- German students visit Hamad Port

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Hamad Port received a group of 40 Master's-level students from Technical University Munich, Germany, recently.
The final-year civil engineering students, all specialising in structural engineering, visited Hamad Port as part of their tour of vital projects in Qatar and the UAE, which also included the Doha Metro.
During their tour of the Hamad Port site, the students were able to see first-hand the completed marine works at the greenfield port project, including the port quay wall, which used around 1.4mn cubic metres of concrete (over 35,224 pre-cast blocks), and the access channel, which can accommodate the world's largest cargo handling vessels.
Hamad Port received its first commercial vessel on July 19, when Zhen Hua 10 delivered the first cranes for port operations. A second vessel entered the port on August 13, carrying a second shipment of cranes, and the third vessel on October 4, carrying the remaining shipment of cranes.
Technical University Munich was recently ranked as the best German university in the field of engineering in the Academic Ranking of World Universities.
