Qatar- Municipalities to interact with people over services

DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning will launch an initiative to interact with people to introduce civic services and know their views from today.

It will also provide advice and guidance to citizens and expatriates on issues related to the municipalities.

A two-day programme begins at Al Shamal Municipality today followed by Al Khor and Al Zakhira on October 12 and 13 Al Daain Municipality on October 19 and 20 and Umm Salal Municipality on October 26 and 27.

It will be held by Doha and Al Wakrah municipalities on November 8 and 9 and 16 and 17 respectively.

Schools and youth centres will present stage shows titled ‘Long Live Cleaning’ (Nahiya Al Nizafa). Magic shows and cleanliness awareness competitions will educate children to put waste into garbage bags. Children will also be taught how to make useful artwork from consumable goods.

55 new parks to open across Qatar



DOHA: The Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning is working on study and designs for 55 new parks in different areas to meet residents’ demand said Mohammed Ali Al Khouri Director of the department.

During a meeting on Taraheeb programme on Al Rayan Channel he said the new parks will have new standards and international specifications and offer all services and facilities including free Internet.

The department is also working to develop and rehabilitate parks to ensure quality of services the ministry said.

It is offering service of selling flowers and seedlings for park owners to help them achieve the dream of a Green Qatar.

As part of its awareness efforts the department organises regular school visits to learn about the importance of agriculture and the need to maintain plants.
