Jelaiha intersection opens to traffic

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Jelaiha intersection was recently opened to traffic, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced.
The opening constitutes Phase 1 of upgrading Al Khafji Street and involved the conversion of the Jelaiha roundabout into a signal-controlled intersection, according to Ashghal.
The works also included upgrading around 300m of Al Khafji Street and Arab League Street, as well as widening these streets and enhancing their capacity to cater to current and future traffic needs, the authority further explained.
Phase 1 of the project commenced in the last week of June and lasted three months. It is expected that the upgrade of Al Khafji Street in all its phases will be completed in the first quarter of 2016.
This is one of a series of projects that Ashghal is carrying out with the aim of improving the road network across the country. These upgrades include converting several roundabouts into signal-controlled intersections and widening some streets to increase their vehicle capacity.
