Palestinian factions approve of Jerusalem attack


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Shortly after two settlers were stabbed to death by a Palestinian young man in Jerusalem on Saturday, several Palestinian groups welcomed the attack as "a normal response to the chain of Israeli crimes" in the West Bank.
The Islamic Jihad Movement claimed responsibility for the attack, saying one of its members, identified as Mohannad Al-Halabi, 18 years, carried out the attack.
The group mobilized its members for responding to "the Israeli crimes, notably the deadly arson attack by Jewish settlers against Al-Dawabsheh home" a few weeks ago.
On a similar note, Sami Abu-Zuhri, spokesman of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS), said the stabbing attack was a normal reaction to the crimes of the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people.
In statements to the press, he cited as examples of these crimes the repeated incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and the violations of the Islamic sanctities at the hands of Israeli settlers and forces.
Abu-Zuhri vowed that the Palestinian people wouldn't stand idle vis-Ø£ -vis the Israeli crimes and the international inaction.
Meanwhile, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades - the military wing of Fatah Movement, urged the Palestinian residents in Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank to counter the brutal crimes of the Jewish settlers.
It affirmed in a statement carried by local media, that the attack in Jerusalem was a normal response to the repeated crimes against the defenseless Palestinian people and the desecration of the Islamic sanctities.
Similarly, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) which took pride in "the success of the operation" despite the tight security measures in Jerusalem.
The Palestinian people will press ahead with their struggle against the crimes of the Israeli authorities and settlers whether collectively or individually, the PFLP pledged in a statement.
The Israeli Prime Minister has reportedly called an emergency inner cabinet meeting on Sunday midday to discuss the situation in Jerusalem in the wake of the attack.
