Abbas Raises Al Aqsa Mosque Issues in New York


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas raised the pitch on Al-Aqsa Mosque violations in an interview broadcast by Palestine Television.

Speaking to the channel Abbas said, "The entire world should be aware of the violations happening in Al Aqsa Mosque and the dangerous consequences that can only lead to disaster." He stressed Israel wants to turn the issue from political to religious.

In meetings held here on the side-lines of the 70th session of the U.N. General Assembly, the Palestinian premier apprised top officials, representing international bodies, of three major points on Al-Aqsa Mosque issue.

He told the channel that he informed the officials three points that need immediate attention. First, the current situation. Second, urging international officials he met to put pressure on Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to implement agreements signed with Palestine and lastly to start a dialogue for peace. He said Palestine is ready for talks if Israel stops settlement activities and the release of fourth batch pre-Oslo agreement prisoners.
