In recent years bombings and shooting attacks – which often target civilians – have become a common occurrence in war-torn Iraq especiallyBaghdad.

With a view to averting attacks Iraqi authorities earlier this month announced the adoption of a new security plan forthe capitalthat divides the city into 22 “secure zones”.
