Dr Lisa Andrews (Doctor of Chiropractic the director of is celebrating being in business for five years this September. Setting up a business during the recession may have seemed risky but the practice has grown evolved and moved with the times. With 50% of UK businesses failing in the first five years Lisa certainly feels she has something to celebrate.
In the early days things were very different to today. The practice began life just two days a week in a small rented office above a pharmacy in Knowle where the “waiting room” was just two chairs in the corridor. “All I had was a portable bench and a passion to help people regain their health naturally – I didn’t really know how to run a business” admits Lisa. Back in 2010 she had been a chiropractor for 5 years but running a business was a completely new challenge. “I’ve learned a lot since the beginning about finance marketing accounts social media advertising etc but it’s learning how to give that personal touch to your business which gives so much more value to your patients and really helps things to grow.”
The practice certainly has grown! It’s now open full time in newly refurbished modern premises in Moseley a thriving suburb of Birmingham. There is a ground floor consulting room and a relaxing welcome area where people can have a complementary tea or coffee as they browse a lifestyle magazine or one of the healthy cookbooks for inspiration. “My mission is to help as many people as possible in Birmingham to lead healthy happy lives” says Lisa. “It’s not just about ; it’s about the whole experience of being part of the Zest Chiropractic community and how we can support our patients with the right nutrition exercise movement and mindset to keep them healthy for life.”
Zest Chiropractic will be celebrating their 5th Birthday with goody bags and healthy treats for practice members – some of who have been there from day one! And with more plans for growth over the next year the first five years were only the beginning. This Birmingham chiropractic clinic hopes to continue having a positive impact on the health of the city’s residents long into the future.
