Oman- Be'ah Dhofar Municipality clean up caign draws over 150 volunteers

Oman Environmental ServicesHolding Company (be'ah) concluded its fourth 'Conserving our beautiful Oman' clean-up campaign inDhofarrecently.

Conducted in collaboration with Dhofar Municipality the two-day clean-up campaign drew more than 150 people representing various voluntary groups including the Indian Social Club Al Bahja Association for Orphans and some private companies in Salalah stated a press release.

Over two days the volunteers cleaned Iteen and Iftalqut areas. They were briefed about be'ah's strategy its role as an entity responsible for solid waste management in the sultanate. Dhofar Municipality said that such campaigns involving various segments of society increase environmental awareness.

Yaqoob al Muqbali head of community development at the Directorate General of Scouts and Girl Guides in the Ministry of Education said 'We are pleased to partner with be'ah for the clean-up of tourist sites. This event showcases the level of collaboration between different government entities voluntary groups and the private sector.'

Meanwhile the Indian Cultural Club in Salalah stressed on the importance of activating the social role of residents in the sultanate and praised be'ah for organising such a successful event and its commitment to increase community outreach across the sultanate.

Hossam Kamal general manager Salalah Rotana Resort said 'Rotana Resort in Salalah is keen to participate in various activities related to environmental issues as well as support the community in sustainable development especially when it focuses on protecting tourist sites in Dhofar governorate.'
