Kuwait effectively contributes to maritime security in Arabian Gulf region - Sheikh Azzam


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait vitally contributes to securing the maritime security besides its role in fighting terrorism, and smuggling in the Arabian Gulf, as part of the international coalition forces working under the umbrella of the United Nations, said Kuwait Ambassador to Bahrain Sheikh Azzam Al-Sabah.
This remark was made during his participation in the ceremonies of assigning the Kuwait Naval Force the leadership of Combined Task Force 152, as part of the international maritime coalition.
Kuwait plays a key role in maintaining the security and peace of the Arabian Gulf region by protecting its maritime security, the Kuwaiti diplomat underlined.
For his part, Kuwaiti Navy Major General Khaled Ahmad Al-Kandiri stated that this is the third time Kuwait Naval Force leads the International maritime coalition, which comprises 30 countries, working to safeguard the maritime security, and shipping lines in the Arabian Gulf.
Kuwait leadership of the coalition reflects the trust of the international community in the efficiency of the Kuwait's Naval Force and the high capability of its members.
Al-Kandiri expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, and Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mohammad Al-Kheder for their support to the Kuwait Naval Force.
The Kuwaiti Naval Force will lead the Combined Task Force 152 for a period of six months.
