(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) H E Sheikh Musallam al Mahrooqi Wali of Sur and chairman of the Municipal Committee and Khalid al Massan chief executive officer of Oman LNG Development Foundation along with other dignitaries visited the community projects in Sur on Wednesday.
An initiative of Oman LNG the projects based on the advice of H E Mahrooqi focus on specific areas such as safety environment and the health of individuals in the community. The agreements for the projects were signed between 2013 and 2014 stated a press release.
The improvement of a walkway public restrooms and the increase of shaded areas in Shiaa address the safety aspect.
Flooding in two main locations in Sur city necessitated the construction of two storm drainage systems. Planting over 1000 neem trees between the Sur Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) junction to Al Jinah roundabout and in the vicinity and alongside the road between Al Jinah and Al Bar roundabouts has improved the environment. By using an eco-friendly irrigation system and reusing wastewater from STP a viable low-cost environmentally conscious solution has been incorporated as well.
By financing the outdoor gym facilities in three locations across Sur and expanding the ground at Bilad Sur Park Oman LNG hopes to contribute to a healthier lifestyle for the local community.
The company's contribution to the expansion of Bilad Sur Park has created ample space to hold various activities events and functions. The park has facilitated many celebrations such as Eid National Day Renaissance Day and other public events.
'Through these initiatives we hope to provide support where the community of Sur feels it is most needed' said Massan. 'Our aim is to serve the community and contribute to all segments of society.'
