UAE- KNPC awards consortium KD 475 million for work at Al Zour refinery
KUWAIT 12th August 2015 (WAM) -- Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has awarded a consortium of energy firms a contract valued at over KD 475 million for work to be carried out at Al-Zour refinery project KNPC CEO for Support Services Khalid Al-Asousi said on Wednesday.
The consortium consists of Saipem Co. and Isar Energy Co. who will have to carry out the work at the refinery for 45 months said Al-Asousi in a press statement carried by KUNA. He noted that KNPC was currently preparing all pertinent contract paperwork to be ready by next October when the contract will be officially signed.
With this contract the total of all contracts awarded for the construction of the new refinery will be KD 3.9 billion (about USD 14 billion).
The new Al-Zour refinery when completed will be considered one of the largest oil refineries in the world falling strategically within KNPC's long term plans running through 2030.
