(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Jordan and Saudi Arabia agreed Tuesday to bolster bilateral strategic, economic, military, and security cooperation between the two countries, in addition to combat terrorism, protect the principles of Islam, and defend the region's security, official media reported.

The two countries affirmed their agreement during talks held between Jordanian King Abdullah II and Saudi Deputy Crown Prince and Minister of Defense Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud in the Jordanian capital, according to Jordan News Agency (PETRA).

They also discussed Yemen's and efforts by the Saudi Arabia-led Arab coalition in response to Yemen's legitimate government to defend the Yemeni people and achieve stability in that Arab country.
The meeting also addressed Jordan's efforts in hosting a large number of Syrian refugees, calling for further international assistance to the Kingdom to help it deal with this burden.

The two sides also stressed the importance of preserving Iraq's security and unity, calling for engaging all components of the Iraqi people in the political process to defend their country and build Iraq's institutions.
They also voiced rejection over Iran's attempts to interfere in Arab countries' internal affairs to undermine their security, stressing the need to avoid interference in other countries' internal affairs in accordance with international norms.
