Kuwait- Municipality Rejects Response To Questions


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Executive Board of Kuwait Municipality has refused to respond to the question of Municipal Council member Mane Al-Ajmi on the activities of the board, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

According to the board, the actual motive behind question is to enable the council to monitor the board's operations but the latter stressed this is beyond the jurisdiction of the council. In its official response, the board pointed out the council member has no right, as per the organizational bylaw of the council, to interfere in the activities of the board.

In addition, he does not have the right to ask about any information except through the president of the council who should in turn address the State Minister for Municipality Affairs. On the other hand, the Municipality clarified that the member of the council does not have the right to forward questions to the executive board as per Article 72.

In the meantime, council member and head of Farwaniya Governorate Committee Naif Al-Soor asked the Amiri Diwan to interfere in finalizing the construction of Sabah Al- N a s s e r Bridge on the Sixth Ring Road as it serves and connects several areas. Meanwhile, a former member of the Municipal Council Mohammad Al-Mefrej says Kuwait Municipality and Municipal Council are ready to meet the needs of concerned bodies in the country for the lands required to expand their facilities and facilitate procedures for the people, reports Al-Qabas daily.

He urged Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid Al- Hamad Al-Sabah and the concerned officials of the ministry to pay extra attention to the border checkpoints especially Nuwaiseeb border checkpoint where huge congestion is usually experienced during weekends and official holidays, and work is often delayed due to the limited area between the passports and customs inspection sections.

Al-Mefrej said he hopes the officials from Ministry of Interior and General Customs Department who work at the border checkpoints will coordinate with the concerned authorities and formulate a plan to meet the requirements and expand the facilities at the border checkpoints for dealing with the congestion and reducing delays in completing the procedures of passengers
