Nepal Press Club honors envoy for Qatar's support


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatari Ambassador to Nepal Ahmed Jassim Al Hamar has been presented with the National Press Club of Nepal Award.

The country's Vice-President Parmanand Jha presented the award during a session organised by the club under the theme 'The Role of Foreign Missions and Media in Rebuilding Process' to honour the ambassadors of the countries that provided assistance following earthquakes on April 25 and May 15.

Jha thanked friendly countries for support and the club for the initiative to honour the ambassadors, stressing the importance of enhancing relations with these countries.

Al Hamar praised strong relations between Qatar and Nepal and said: "Based on these relationships, Qatar was among the first to take the initiative to help Nepal."

He reviewed the assistance provided by Qatari charity and humanitarian organisations, including Qatar Red Crescent, which set up a field hospital in Nagarkot province on May 4 and will continue to provide potable water, food, tents, generators, medical supplies and medicines for over 300,000 people for the next three months.
