Qatar- Ministry backs 1,350 productive families

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Department of Productive Families Development at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs is supporting over 1,350 productive families through projects, Al Sharq reports.

Support includes training for families which set up their projects. Families keep cooperating with the ministry after establishing projects and continue to supply products to the local market.

The ministry supports families to become self-sustained, develop skills and capabilities through training, market products and establish contacts with parties related to their businesses.

In collaboration with specialised entities such as Qatar Projects Corporation, families receive support, including visibility studies, training, advice on how to establish business and attract permanent costumers, and display and offer products.

To get support from the department, each family must have a small or medium productive project and product(s) must be produced locally. The family must be registered and there is no age limit for family members who will be in charge of the project.

To make families competitive and help them maintain quality, the department holds special training courses on crafts, marketing, customer service, savings and rationalisation of consumption.

It also helps families sell products and provide them with shops. It has allocated six shops in Barwa Commercial Complex in Al Wakrah and outlets in Al Meera branches in addition to facilitating their participation in expos such as 'Made in Qatar' and in Souq Waqif where productive families are provided with free stalls.
