Kuwait awards contracts worth USD11.5b for new refinery


(MENAFN) Kuwait National Petroleum Co. announced awarding four contracts worth USD11.5 billion to international groups to build a 615,000 barrels per day refinery, Arab News reported.

The main manufacturing unit contract was awarded for Spain's Tecnicas Reunidas, China's Sinopec Engineering and South Korea's Hanwha Engineering and Construction Corp, worth USD4.25 billion.

The second and third contracts for infrastructure, worth USD5.75 billion were awarded to a company of US Fluor Limited with South Korean Hyundai heavy Industries and Daewoo Engineering and Construction.

A fourth contract valued at USD1.5 billion was awarded to South Korean Hyundai Engineering and Construction and SK Engineering and Construction and Italian Saipem, a spokesman said.
