IPEA reaches critical stage with regional final in Riyadh
(MENAFN- Arab News) The Middle East final of the Infiniti Performance Engineering Academy (IPEA) concluded at the Infiniti Al Ghassan Motors Showroom in Riyadh on June 14.
The final marked the conclusion of the four-month long global initiative for the world's best up-and-coming engineering undergraduates offering them a unique opportunity to work with the World Championship-winning Formula One team of which Infiniti is a title partner as well as for Infiniti Motor Company itself. Other regional finals in Russia Europe China and the United States will be taking place in the coming months.
During the course of the initiative nearly 200 students from universities across Saudi Arabia registered for this one-of-a kind program. The final in Riyadh featured the best engineering profiles from the Kingdom as they pitted their knowledge and strengths against each other.
The day's activities were rounded off with individual panel interviews with the judges where they were questioned on their approach planning and decision making through each of the activities.
The winners will be announced in September shortly before commencing their new role in the UK.
'This program has been a phenomenal success in Saudi Arabia. The total applicants for the program were the third highest globally. This in itself is testament to the eagerness of students in Saudi Arabia to be a part of this truly unique initiative' said Juergen Schmitz MD Infiniti Middle East.
Now in its second year the Academy has developed in 2015 with five placements now available up from three in 2014. The series of regional finals will recruit winners from Saudi Arabia Europe Russia China and the United States. Each candidate will receive a 12-month internship split between Infiniti's European Technical Centre and a Formula One team to which it is closely associated both in the UK complete with full salary.
