Qatar- Qmarsec conference to take place in Oct

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The third annual Qmarsec conference will take place on October 28 at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha, under the theme "The Future of Automatic Identification System Technologies and Deployments".

The organising committee has announced that HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani will again officially support Qmarsec, which is hosted by the Qatar National Security Shield (NSS) project, this year.

The event is also supported by HE Maj Gen Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah, Minister of State for Defence Affairs.

The annual Qmarsec conference provides a forum that encourages information-sharing and co-operation among military, government, industry and academic maritime security experts from around the world.

The conference encourages the development of joint endeavours, particularly new technologies, in order to deepen and enhance inter-agency co-operation and collaboration to mitigate future security threats.

In the face of increasingly sophisticated transnational maritime threats, maintaining a technological advantage through the most advanced, hi-tech systems, equipment and electronic devices is more vital than ever, according to a statement.

"The attendees of Qmarsec come together in the spirit of co-operation to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes for all. This is the most efficient means of achieving an effective co-ordinated maritime and coastal surveillance," the statement adds.

Staff Brigadier (Pilot) Mohamed A al-Mannai, director of the Qatar National Security Shield Project, said of the conference: "The most critical goal of an effective coastal and border protection system is the safety of our civilians and infrastructure. As these threats are becoming less and less predictable, it is more important than ever that we work together to face our mutual challenges."
