1 killed, 16 injured in shooting incidents in Detroit, Philadelphia


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) One person was killed and nine wounded on Saturday after a shooting at a party held on a basketball court with children present in Detroit, Michigan.

Police said the shooting happened at a neighborhood party that included a barbecue, attended by 400 members of families and children. A 20-year-old man was killed. He was not being identified while relatives were informed. Another nine people were critically injured, six men and three women.

"It's a miracle that not one kid is shot," Assistant Police Chief Steve Dolunt said.

He added that police do not yet know the reason for the shooting, and still pursuing the shooter.

In Philadelphia, a gunman opened fire on a block party in West Philadelphia on Saturday night, leaving seven people injured, including three children.

Police said the gunman, who hasn't been identified yet, had fired randomly down the street.
