Qatar - Expat's death sentence upheld for killing elderly local

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Court of Appeal has upheld the death sentence of a Pakistani expatriate for killing an elderly Qatari woman in the garden of her house, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.

The Court of First Instance had earlier sentenced the convict to death in the case.

The man, who used to work as a gardener for the victim's family, admitted before the court that he killed her to avenge his humiliation. He said the woman had insulted him a few months before the incident.

One night, he managed to enter the house and waited for her to come to the garden, where she used to water the plants before dawn. As soon as she finished her daily routine, he attacked her.

He hit her on the head several times and also strangled her with a T-shirt until she died. The Public Prosecution had demanded the maximum sentence for him.
