Former USDA Official Joins TraceGains as PolicyIndustry Expert

Johnson will lead the company’s outreach and participation with trade associations and other industry influencers. TraceGains will also draw upon her deep background working for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Congress to manage public policy matters affecting TraceGains and its customers in the food industry.

Ms. Johnson formerly served as the Director of the Agricultural Trade Office at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow and ran the Legislative & Public Affairs office at USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. Earlier in her career Johnson served as a congressional aide for 13 years working her way up from caseworker to Chief of Staff. Since leaving the federal government five years ago Ms. Johnson has been advising agricultural export groups on strategy government relations and communications. Most recently she spearheaded a multi-stakeholder initiative to promote the sustainability of U.S. food and agricultural products in Europe and developed a multi-industry trade capacity building strategy to improve the feed-poultry value chain in West Africa. Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in political science.
