Qatari Embassy to help families of Filipino crash victims
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Philippine embassy in Doha is ready to provide consular assistance to the families of two Filipinos who were killed in a road crash on Mesaieed€Salwa road yesterday.
Ambassador Wilfredo Santos said the embassy has already informed the Department of Foreign Affairs in the Philippines about the incident and contacted the next of kin of the Filipino victims. Processing of the shipment of the remains is underway, the envoy explained.
"We are already co-ordinating with their employer and we will facilitate all the documentation process," Santos told Gulf Times.
Ysrael Villamarin Cenine (36) and Reynel Anonceivo Manalo (22) and two Nepalese expatriates were killed in the accident which took place at around 7.30am.
Quoting Imco Engineering & Contracting Company Human Resources officer Ada Gesite, the Philippine Overseas Labour Office said the victims were on board the company's rented van when a trailer truck collided with their vehicle.
Labour attachÃ© Leopoldo De Jesus said the families of Cenine and Manalo will receive financial compensation (P220,000 or around QR18,000 each) if they are active members of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
The employer is also expected to cover all the repatriation expenses.
