Mr. Grant Farrar to Speak at the 2015 CLM Municipal Law Conference

Mr. Grant Farrar Counsel City of Evanston will be speaking on “Representing the Municipal Client - A Defense and Risk Management Perspective.”  This conference will be held on June 4 & 5th in Chicago. 

 

W. Grant Farrar is the Corporation Counsel and Chief Legal Officer for the City of Evanston Illinois. On behalf of the City he leads and manages matters touching upon every intersection of business politics and public policy.  Mr. Farrar emphasizes innovative case evaluation strategies that assist and promote the City’s  litigation goals and objectives.  Mr. Farrar specializes in tort and civil rights defense and regularly tries cases before juries in state and federal court.  The judgments he obtains in favor of the City are routinely reported in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Jury Verdict Reporter.

Mr. Farrar revised and improved insurance coverage placements and self-insured retentions to strengthen and enhance the City’s risk profile. Under his leadership the City’s trial lawyers use their understanding of the financial business and political factors affecting the City to consistently achieve success.  The City handles over 85% of its litigation defense in-house.

Prior to coming to the City in 2009 Mr. Farrar was a partner in a Chicago law firm practicing insurance coverage and casualty defense.  He is a member of the Defense Research Institute the American Bar Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel.
