Dubai tourism shows 8.2 percent increase in 2014

(MENAFN) The emirate of Dubai welcomed a total of 13.2 million tourists in 2014, marking an 8.2 percent increase when compared to the same period a year earlier, Arabian Business reported.

The yearly upsurge for Dubai represents a much-higher result than the global average, which stood at 4.7 percent. The growth is attributable to the emirate continuous investment in leisure and tourism.

Dubai targets an attraction of a total 20 million tourists by the year of 2020, the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) said.

The statistics stand for all of the international visitors travelling to Dubai and staying for at least one night regardless of the location of their stay.
