GCC Health Ministers Executive Board meeting begins in Riyadh


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) The Director General of the Executive Office of the Council of Ministers of Health of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States Dr. Tawfiq bin Ahmed Khoja has said that the agenda of the regular 82th meeting of the Executive Board will discuss a variety of topics such as the fight against non-communicable diseases, health indicators, expatriates and other related topics.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, SPA, Dr. Khoja in his speech at the opening of the meeting said, that the meeting will discuss topics of electronic link gates between information centers in the GCC countries and the Executive Office, the promotion of health information systems, developing and improving the work of the executive office, the budget for the Executive Office for 2014, budgets proposed for the years (2016-2018), Deposit Credit Fund, researches and financial position of the Fund up to date.

The meeting will also discuss the share of the Republic of Yemen in the budget for the Executive Office, infection control, quality health, safety of patients, mental health, anti-smoking, occupational health, the proposed formation of a GCC committee for the development of health systems performance, care for the elderly, nursing care, school health, health of young people, health of mouth and teeth, primary health care, programme priorities in the next phase, and smart card.

It will also discuss the subject of the unified purchase, pharmaceuticals tenders, hospital supplies equipment, and supplies of the Industrial College, oral and dental care, medical laboratories and blood transfusion services, cardiac surgery, vascular and Interventional Radiology, in addition to discussing the 79th Conference to be held in Geneva next month.
