Coalition planes strike Houthi camp in Yemen's Maarib

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) No information is yet available on casualties

Saudi-led coalition planes struck a camp belonging to the Shiite Houthi group in Yemen's eastern Maarib province early Saturday, eyewitnesses have said.

"Coalition warplanes carried out five raids on Mas camp in northern Maarib," an eyewitness told The Anadolu Agency.

No information is yet available on casualties.

Yemen has remained in a state of turmoil since 2012.

Almost one month ago, Saudi Arabia and several other Arab states began an air campaign against Houthi positions across Yemen.

Saudi Arabia says the strikes come in response to appeals by embattled Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi for help against the Houthis, who overran capital Sanaa late last year and have since advanced on other provinces.

The Houthis, for their part, denounce the offensive as an unwarranted "Saudi-American onslaught" on Yemen.
