Norway- Svein Arne Hansen Elected European Athletics President


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Svein Arne Hansen of Norway has been elected European Athletics president with 26 votes from 50 member federations, AP reported.

European Athletics said Saturday that Hansen defeated Jean Gracia of France (19 votes) and Antti Pihlakoski of Finland (five votes) for the position.
Hansen takes over from Hansjoerg Wirz of Switzerland, who led the organization for 16 years.

Also elected at Saturday's congress were Dobrimir Karamarinov of Bulgaria, Frank Hensel of Germany and Gracia as vice presidents.
