QC begins public service projects in Bangladesh


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Charity (QC) has begun implementing public service projects in Bangladesh, for the benefit of 172,000 people, at a total cost of QR4.6m.

The projects are expected to be completed this year and cover memorisation of the Holy Quran project, the provision of potable water for domestic use and support for orphans including housing, food, education, clothing, medical treatment and vocational training.

QC is also implementing health projects including Qatar Hospital and Medical Institute project at a cost of QR560,000, providing health services to 100,000 people and incorporating all forms of treatment, including internal and external clinics and medical laboratory and radiology, in addition to training members of the medical profession such as nurses, laboratory technicians, radiologists and assistant pharmacists.

The trainees will be sent to work in remote areas, which lack doctors and specialists in radiology and laboratory analysis. This training will provide qualified medical care at low cost.

A multi-service complex has also been built at a cost of QR2.48m, benefitting around 60,000 people, incorporating a full school, benefiting 2,000 students at a cost of QR650,000, and a social welfare centre, which cost QR910,000, benefiting 10,000 people. QC has recently built 72 mosques across Bangladesh, at a cost of around QR4m, for the benefit of over 10,000 people; also drilling artesian wells at each mosque.

Collective marriages were also arranged for 22 couples who were all orphans, and after the ceremony home kits were distributed to the newlyweds.

QC has also constructed a school in Srenger in the Directorate of Manshi Keng, for the benefit of more than 1,000 students, at a total cost of QR750,000.
