(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The first Kuwait international triathlon tournament will be held on March 28 with participation of 100 triathletes from 15 countries.
Member of the Kuwait triathlon committee Omar Al-Omar told KUNA that the women segment of the race will see participants sprinting for a distance of 350 meters followed by a cycling race for 12 kilometers and ending with a run for a distance of 2.5 kilometers.
The male portion of the race will see men triathletes sprinting for a distance of 750 meters followed by a cycling race for 24 kilometers and ending with a run for 4 kilometers, said Al-Omar.
A number of 25 Kuwaiti triathletes are partaking in the tournament along with their counterparts from the US, Britain, France, Spain, Czech, and GCC countries, said Al-Omar.
The Triathlon, a multiple sports discipline race, was first introduced in the 1920s. The highest governing body of the sport is the International Triathlon Union.
