Germany "understands" motives for "Decisive Storm" operation - DM

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said on Friday his government "understands" motives behind the Saudi-commanded "Decisive Storm" military operation in Yemen.

In a statement to the press, the minister said Houthi militias have isolated a democratically elected president, drove him out of Sanaa and tracked him to Aden, thus he had to call for Saudi help, which responded to him along with other Arab countries yesterday, minister Steinmeier said. "Due to the above-mentioned, we understand the Saudi stance," he said.

He ruled out effects of the Yemeni crisis on Iran's nuclear negotiations with the West. Saudi Arabia, along with Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain announced some 48 hours ago launch of the "Decisive Storm" operation against Houthi militia, with deployment of scores military aircraft and jet fighters. A series of Houthi strongholds have been struck and demolished by the alliance aircraft.
